Savanna Monitors are a medium sized monitor lizard from Africa. They are a very stout lizard with relatively short limbs and a big head with strong jaws. They rarely get over 40 inches long with males being bigger than females. In the wild they will typically eat snails, millipedes, beetles, arthropods, molluscs, and invertabrates.

It's range extends from Senegal east to Sudan and almost to the Congo River where they are replaced by V. Albigularis (Rock Monitors).

They can make great pets, but keepers need to be able to facilitate their dietary and size requirements. As well as daily attention to ensure your pet stays friendly.
